Panic & Anxiety
Dr. Dorian provides specialized services to help alleviate panic attacks and other anxiety-based distressing conditions using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is the most widely-used therapy for anxiety disorders. Research has shown it to be highly effective in the treatment of panic disorder, phobias, social anxiety disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder, among many others.
As the name implies, CBT involves looking at two aspects of our being:
- Cognitive therapy examines how negative thoughts, or cognitions, contribute to anxiety.
- Behavior therapy examines how you behave and react in situations that trigger or maintain the anxiety.
There is no quick fix for overcoming an anxiety disorder. Doing so takes some time and commitment. As therapy may involve facing anxiety symptoms and anxiety provoking situations (fears) rather than avoiding them, you may occasionally feel worse before you get better. But do know that you will get better. To achieve that goal, it is important to continue treatment and follow recommendations. You will soon see that therapy for anxiety is very effective in the long run and you’ll certainly reap the benefits by following your treatment plan.
